Navigating Change • Inspiring Growth

new page logo designs.png

Life transitions are not easy. Feeling stuck in-between what was and an uncertain future can leave you feeling lost, alone and unclear about how to move forward.  Sometimes change is by choice, and other times it is sudden and unexpected.

Change—divorce, death of a loved one, becoming an empty nester, career shifts, or relocation to a new city—can be disorienting. It is often accompanied by grief and stress, and can generate a loss of identity.  You are no longer the same person you once were, but uncertain of who you are becoming.

You don’t have to navigate your way forward alone.

The in-between stage of transition can be an opportunity for growth and transformation. Together we can explore how you got here and create a new vision for where you are going. Tragedies and life choices can be untangled and rewoven into a new sense of purpose and meaning giving shape to a new identity.

Healing and making sense of your story is only the beginning.  Thriving is the goal.

I’ve been there. I know the grief that comes with loss and the disorientation that occurs when one’s whole life is lain bare. The path I have walked is marked with milestones I’m proud of and mistakes I can’t undo. I’ve gotten it wrong as much as I have gotten it right, which is why I can meet you with compassion and without judgement. I will not sit across from you as one who is the expert, I come as one who has first hand experience of how hard and painful life can be.

I know you can emerge transformed—because others I’ve worked with have.

I have the ability to see a person’s core essence beneath the difficult emotions and experiences being processed, and can pick up on themes and patterns in a way that makes sense of and brings focus to our work together. My holistic integrated approach to counselling is trauma informed, culturally sensitive, and strength based. I draw from different modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused brief therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and Indigenous perspectives on wellness.

My approach is influenced by the Indigenous peoples and organizations I have worked for, and the teachings I have received from Coast Salish and Kwakwakaʼwakw knowledge keepers. This has informed my understanding of the interrelationship between our body, heart, mind, spirit, our communities, and the land.  A holistic view of wellness is about healing our relationship to these and bringing them into balance.  My understanding of this is complimented by my Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies (Vancouver Island University). Much of my experience has come from working with Indigenous Elders, women and youth. I am experienced and trained in crisis intervention, conflict deescalation, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning.

My educational foundation includes a Master of Education,  Leadership in Learning (Yorkville University) which provides an enhanced understanding of the processes of change and transformation and human development. This is complemented by a Life Coach Certificate (Rhodes Wellness College) and a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling Specializing in Professional Counselling (Kelowna College of Professional Counselling). My unique combination of education and experience positions me to work adaptively and sensitively with you to create an individualized pathway forward that supports your journey towards your desired destination.
